Further clarification has been requested regarding BBA testing. The BBA is the UK’s major authority offering approval and certification services to manufacturers and installers supplying the construction industry.
Simply put the BBA test Chemical Building products to confirm performance, if the product does not carry the BBA certificate then it should be avoided.
Members of the public pay contractor’s thousands of pounds every day for remedial works. If that contractor is using “cheap” untested products that don’t work, and the system fails the customer will have to appoint another control to correct matters.

Since the DPA posted the warning about contractors using untested products, we have received calls from the public who used Triton dealers. We wish to make it clear that Tri Cream produced by Triton Chemicals or Triton Systems of Units 3 - 5 Crayford Commercial Centre, Greyhound Way, Crayford, Kent DA1 4HF is completely untested by the BBA.
Triton Chemicals are an excellent company of long standing, who resell products. But their Cream is simply untested to BBA standards.
Thus, using a Triton dealer applying this product carries a significant risk of failure compared to other products such as Safeguards Dryzone which has an active ingredient of 63% the Tri Cream is 20%.
The DPA advice is very clear, only employ contractors using BBA approved products, it’s not worth taking risks.
Also further note, the TUG guarantee offered by Triton only has a claim limit of £100,000 in any one year, so if the claims exceed that limit, you could not make a claim, and it would be void. It would not take many claims to exceed that limit. CGS/GPI guarantees may present a safer option.

Triton Chemical Manufacturing Co Ltd only post "abbreviated accounts" this is legal, but hides turnover. Accounts show a paid up share capitial of £11,000.
Profits fell from £70,022 in 2010to£2,337 in 2011 they do not own their factory.
The DPA received a call at 1.50pm today from Mrs Jones in Scotland.
She had been recommended to call the Damp Proofing Association by trading Standards. The DPA has its own Contractors who work directly for, and are accountable to, the DPA.
Thus it’s very clear who is responsible for the works. The DPA has a £100,000 liquid capital bond to meet any requirements or liabilities. No other association in the UK has that amount of funding and we can supply accounts to prove that.
The Damp Proofing Association is receiving very high call volumes with similar comments, the general public need reassurances and those can only be given by clear financial accountability.
Don’t risk a man or a van to deal with your structural dampness; they might go into liquidation at any time.

48 new members joined The Damp Proofing Association in January, the association is in advanced negotiations with many Building Societies and banks to become their preferred contractor. All reports for lenders will be Free of any charge.

The DPA is launching another 100 regional websites to assist client demands across the UK. These are local sites that feature strongly for Google searches in a particular area, town or city. This will assist the general public in searches for a professional contractor.
Currently we receive 50-100 organic enquires a day and our target is 100+ every day. These enquires are passed to DPA principle members.
The DPA only recommends products manufactured to the highest standards.
Many manufactures are marketing Damp Proofing Cream without even a BBA certificate. This means the products are untested and research has shown the formulation is wholly diluted. The public should avoid untested products.
Triton Chemicals or Triton Systems of Units 3 - 5 Crayford Commercial Centre, Greyhound Way, Crayford, Kent DA1 4HF do not have a BBA Certificate for their product Tri Cream.
Companies or Contractors using such cream or other untested products will have integrity failure resulting in customer claims. The public should avoid such companies. Always use a correctly approved product.

One of our principle contractors Lifecote Group have won a £720,000 contract for the renovation of 350 properties.
Lifecote was the only contractor able to offer Structural repairs, Wall ties, Thor Helical, Dpc, Dry Rot elimination, kitchen installation, tiling and redecoration.

The ISRT has been rebranded to form the Damp Proofing Association (DPA).
Membership costs are £800.00 + VAT for a full member, £500.00 for an Associate member.
We hope to exceed 400 members by the end of 2012 and represent the UK’s Damp Proofing Control, Timber treatment and preservation, basement Structural water Proofing, flood recover, wall stabilisation and condensation specialists
Members will be required to sign a strict code of practice; failure to conform to those principles will result in expulsion.
The DPA will not tolerate membership misconduct or public deception.
Membership is open to all, and particularly to the smaller contractor, who needs assistance in developing their business.
There will be various technical courses, business training, development, and mentoring.
